The Korean Film Council and the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival will host a discussion titled "Suggestions for the Sustainable Future of Independent Art Film Theaters" at 2 p.m. on the 12th in the Event Hall on the 2nd floor of the Bucheon City Hall Annex. The forum will review the Korean Film Council's support policies for independent art film theaters and identify areas for improvement to develop policies that align with changes in audience consumption. The presentations will be given by Won Seunghwan, director of Indiespace, and Noh Cheolhwan, professor of Theater and Film at Inha University. They will discuss "Support Policies and Operational Status of Independent Art Film Theaters" and "Overseas Cases of Support Policies for Independent Art Film Theaters," respectively. The discussion, chaired by Kim Iseok, a member of the Korean Film Council, will include participants such as Kang Mingu, CEO of Daejeon Art Cinema; Kang Gimyeong, CEO of Triple Pictures; Jang Geonjae, CEO of Mockyura; and Jo Seongjin, Strategic Support Manager at CJ CGV. The outcomes will be incorporated into the "Research on the Current Status and Improvement Plans for the Operation Support Project of Independent Art Film Theaters." A Korean Film Council official explained, "This will be used as data to support effective assistance for independent art film theaters, expand the audience for independent art films, and secure and increase stable support budgets."
