Geoje City to Operate Road-Cooling 'Salsucha' Vehicles Starting from the 14th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Geoje City, Gyeongnam Province, will operate water spraying trucks on major city roads starting from the 14th.
The city announced on the 8th that this decision was made considering weather conditions such as rainfall forecasts after the first heatwave advisory was issued on the 6th.
Water spraying on road surfaces will mainly take place in urban areas with heavy vehicle traffic and population movement, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A city official stated, “Operating water spraying trucks lowers the radiant heat on road surfaces, preventing safety accidents such as road buckling caused by asphalt deformation and tire damage to vehicles. It also helps mitigate the urban heat island effect, washes away fine dust accumulated on roads, improving air quality and providing a visual sense of freshness.”
