Busan Film Festival Begins Crowd Ticketing for 'Applying Theaters'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has started crowd ticketing for the audience-created community BIFF program 'Request Cinema: The Cinema You Request.'
The first round of crowd ticketing reservations will be held from July 5 to 15, and the second round from July 19 to 26.
Request Cinema is designed with the purpose that the process of designing imagination, gathering people with similar tastes, and scheduling screenings is led by the audience, and then shared with other viewers.
For audience programmers to realize their own ideas?from selecting films to inviting guests and planning events?they must receive the audience's approval. Similar to crowdfunding where a project proceeds only after reaching a minimum funding goal, the programming is confirmed only after achieving a certain number of ticket reservations.
Last year, through crowd ticketing, Request Cinema included works covering various themes and genres such as environment, human rights, children, and women.
