HK Innoen Launches Dialysis Delay Agent with Improved Dosage Convenience
[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] HK Innoen announced on the 5th that it launched 'Kremezin Sokbungjeong' (active ingredient 'spherical adsorbent carbon'), a significantly improved convenient-to-take form of the dialysis delay agent 'Kremezin Granules' for chronic kidney disease patients, on the 1st of this month.
The daily dosage of Kremezin Sokbungjeong is about half that of competing products, enhancing ease of use. HK Innoen plans to increase its market share in the dialysis delay agent market by launching Sokbungjeong following its existing Kremezin Granules.
Kremezin is the world's first chronic renal failure drug developed to delay dialysis in chronic kidney disease patients. HK Innoen introduced the granule form from Kureha Corporation and has been selling it since 2005. The main ingredient, spherical adsorbent carbon, adsorbs toxins that cause uremia in the body and helps excrete them through feces, improving uremic symptoms in progressive chronic kidney disease patients and delaying the time until dialysis is required.
The newly introduced Kremezin Sokbungjeong, launched this month, is developed in a pill form that can be easily taken with a small amount of water. While the existing capsule form requires taking 7 capsules per dose, three times a day, totaling 21 capsules, Kremezin Sokbungjeong reduces the dosage to 4 tablets per dose, totaling 12 tablets per day.
In particular, it was developed to quickly disintegrate in the mouth with a small amount of water, making it convenient for elderly patients who have difficulty swallowing pills or chronic kidney disease patients with restricted fluid intake.
Along with the launch of Kremezin Sokbungjeong, HK Innoen explained that it completely renewed the package design of the existing Kremezin Granules with a patient-centered approach to enhance convenience. The package includes a medication guide booklet and introduces a simpler way to take the medicine without Oburight (starch-based paper used to wrap medicine), and also contains a QR code linking to a medication instruction video so anyone can easily learn how to take it.
