[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] At Seyeonjeong, one of Korea's three major private gardens located in Buhwang-ri, Bogil-myeon, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, 20,000 sunflowers are in full bloom, attracting the attention of residents and tourists.
On the 30th, according to the county, Bogil-myeon planted about 20,000 sunflower seedlings twice on approximately 4,000㎡ of vacant land to create the Seyeonjeong landscape, carefully tending to them by regularly removing weeds to ensure healthy growth.
In particular, the sunflowers are expected to be in full bloom in July, establishing themselves as another attraction of Bogildo Island.
A pavilion is installed in the center of the flower bed, allowing visitors to relax and leisurely enjoy the sunflowers, and behind the pavilion, cosmos and sunflowers are arranged in a heart shape, making it a popular photo zone.
Meanwhile, to reduce the budget for landscape creation, Bogil-myeon purchased seeds instead of flower seedlings, germinated them in pots, and transplanted them, which also contributed to job creation for local residents and improved efficiency.
An official from the Bogil-myeon Office said, “We will continue to do our best in landscape creation so that visitors to Bogildo can heal by seeing the flowers and want to stay.”
