Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Launches 'Tourism Dure Preliminary PD School' to Train Local Tourism Activists
In Collaboration with Honam University... From the 2nd to the 14th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 30th that it will open the ‘Tourism Dure Preliminary PD School’ to train activists who will lead the revitalization of local tourism in collaboration with Honam University on the 2nd of next month.
Tourism Dure is a tourism business community created by local residents themselves, and a Tourism Dure PD refers to a role that closely supports these resident businesses so that they can all develop together based on cooperation and coexistence.
The Preliminary PD School is a program to identify citizens' demand for local tourism development and to discover and train tourism planners and activists who will support resident businesses with high potential and development possibilities.
It will be held at Sangha Hall of Honam University from the 2nd to the 14th of next month.
About 20 participants will attend the Preliminary PD School, including residents of Gwangsan-gu, business workers, and many MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) prospective entrepreneurs challenging smart tourism.
Starting with the Preliminary PD School, Gwangsan-gu plans to form a resident-led tourism council that utilizes the unique characteristics of the region, and provide employment and startup consulting through resource diagnosis and capacity building.

A Gwangsan-gu official said, “After COVID-19, it has become very important to secure tourism strategies and competitiveness that leverage the strengths and attractions of the region,” adding, “We will actively support the revitalization of a resident-led tourism ecosystem through the discovery and training of Tourism Dure PDs.”
