Gyeongbuk Province Operates Voluntary Animal Registration Period... Requests Pet Owners' Participation
Operation for 2 Months Starting July 1, Animal Registration and Change Reports Exempt from Fines During the Period
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] Gyeongbuk Province will operate a ‘Voluntary Animal Registration Reporting Period’ for pet owners for two months starting from the 1st of next month.
The animal registration system is a system that requires registering information about companion dogs in the system to protect animals and prevent loss and abandonment.
Currently, under the Animal Protection Act, companion dogs aged over 2 months must be registered within 30 days at designated animal hospitals.
Designated animal hospitals can be confirmed through the Animal Protection Management System or the animal protection department of the city or county.
This voluntary animal registration reporting is implemented to encourage residents who have not registered their animals or have not reported changes such as owner information updates, loss, transfer, or death of their pets to voluntarily report.
If unregistered animals are registered or change reports are made during the voluntary reporting period, fines of up to 600,000 KRW per case will be waived.
From September, after the voluntary reporting period, the province plans to intensively inspect places such as parks and walking trails for animal registration status, wearing of identification tags, and whether leash length is within 2 meters, and impose fines if violations are found.
