Military Logistics Support Training Begins Along the West Coast
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] The 'Joint Sustained Support Exercise' has begun along the West Coast.
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff on the day, the 'Joint Sustained Support Exercise' will be conducted along the West Coast until the 1st of next month. This exercise, led by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, integrates the sustained support capabilities of the Army, Navy, and Air Force to conduct a field training exercise (FTX).
In the Joint Sustained Support Exercise, the Army, Navy, and Air Force integrate sustained support means to maintain the combat power of combat units conducting theater operations in case of emergency, and to become proficient in mission execution procedures.
The exercise is conducted by establishing integrated support facilities in the operational area. The Navy installs Littoral Operations Support (LOTS) facilities on available coasts before the port is fully operational. LOTS involves transferring various cargo from ships to the shore and temporarily storing them when port use is impossible.
The Air Force restores damaged airfields and establishes an Airborne Tactical Supply Point (ATSP). The ATSP is a base that rapidly supplies personnel and military supplies by air to overcome the poor ground logistics lines in the combat zone, maintaining the operational tempo and sustainability of combat units. It also includes bases installed and operated at operational area airfields to evacuate patients and transport maintenance-required equipment to rear areas.
The Army installs Area Distribution Centers (ADC) in regions capable of supporting combat units, receiving, storing, and managing various resources, and timely supporting combat units to ensure sustained combat capability.
Since the Joint Chiefs of Staff involves Army, Navy, and Air Force forces, it is expected that communication with training units from the planning stage will further strengthen the cooperation of each service's capabilities.
