Ukraine's Grain Exports Fell 55.5% in June
Ukraine's grain exports amounted to only 777,000 tons by June 20, a 55.5% decrease compared to the same period last year.
On the 20th (local time), major foreign media, citing data from the Ministry of Agriculture, reported that grain exports during this period were approximately 689,000 tons of corn, 63,000 tons of wheat, and 21,000 tons of barley, totaling 777,000 tons.
Known as the "breadbasket of the world," Ukraine exported up to 6 million tons of grain monthly before the Russian invasion on February 24. However, since then, monthly export volumes have dropped to about 1.7 million tons.
Ukraine exported grain through its coastal ports, but the Russian military blocked the sea routes. As a result, grain must be transported by train through the western border or moved via small docks on the Danube River.
