Taeyoungho Appointed Chairman of the International Committee of the People Power Party... Emphasizing North Korean Human Rights Issues
Successor to US Ambassador Cho Tae-yong
Former North Korean Diplomat
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] Tae Young-ho, a member of the People Power Party, was appointed as the party's International Committee Chair on the 20th.
The People Power Party held an executive meeting that day and approved Tae's appointment as the International Committee Chair. This appointment came after the position became vacant due to former lawmaker Cho Tae-yong's appointment as ambassador to the United States. The International Committee is one of the permanent bodies of the People Power Party, serving as a channel for exchanges with political parties, social organizations, and international organizations of various countries, and advising on the party's international activities.
With Tae, a former North Korean diplomat, taking charge of the International Committee, party-level activities related to North Korean human rights issues are expected to become more active. Tae stated, "In line with the government's policy direction to become a global pivotal state contributing to freedom, peace, and prosperity, including universal human issues such as the Ukraine crisis and North Korean human rights, I will present the correct direction for the People Power Party to advance in the international community."
