The Metropolitan Area Express Transit Committee (MAETC) under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 19th that the semi-public metropolitan bus route (No. 7101) operating from Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do to Seoul will begin service on the 20th (Monday).
Route 7101 is a general metropolitan bus running from Geumchon District and Unjeong New Town in Paju-si through Sinchon, Gwanghwamun, and Jongno, terminating at Hyehwa Station. It operates 40 times a day on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. at intervals of 20 to 35 minutes.
The main route is Geumchon Station → Jangan Apartment → Geumhwa Elementary School → Garam Village Complexes 3, 4, and 6 → Sannae Village Complex 10 → Sangam DMC Promotion Center → Hongdae Entrance Station → Ewha Womans University Station → Seodaemun Intersection → Gwanghwamun → Hyehwa Station.
This route was newly established to allow Paju citizens to travel comfortably to Seoul due to population growth from the redevelopment of Geumchon District and the settlement of Unjeong New Town. With this opening, passengers can travel quickly to downtown Seoul without transfers.
Baek Seung-geun, chairman of MAETC, plans to attend the "Metropolitan Bus Public Experience Group Event" at 5 p.m. on the 20th to personally experience the metropolitan bus and listen to public opinions.
At the meeting, MAETC will also explain future policy directions for metropolitan buses.
The main points include: ① Rapid expansion of metropolitan bus routes in blind spots of the metropolitan area transportation network ② Expansion of demand-responsive metropolitan transportation services ③ Installation and improvement of metropolitan bus transfer stops to greatly enhance transfer convenience ④ Transition to eco-friendly vehicles for metropolitan buses to establish a sustainable metropolitan transportation system ⑤ Expansion of service areas and broadening the base of metropolitan bus services.
