"Why Aren't You Paying Living Expenses?" Four Men and Women in Their 20s Arrested for Group Assault on Cohabitant
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Four people in their 20s who collectively assaulted a cohabitant for not paying living expenses were arrested by the police.
The Gwangju Dongbu Police Station announced on the 16th that they have arrested and are investigating four people in their 20s, two men and two women, on charges including special injury.
They are accused of beating Mr. A with blunt objects for several hours at a townhouse in Gwangju Metropolitan City in the early hours of the 28th of last month, causing injuries requiring six weeks of medical treatment.
According to the investigation, the crime was committed because Mr. A, who had been living in the same house since March this year, did not share the living expenses.
Mr. A could not endure the increasing severity of the assault and fled to a hospital on the day of the incident, which led the police to start an investigation.
The cohabitants noticed the police investigation had begun through a location tracking application on Mr. A’s mobile phone and fled, but were arrested about two weeks later on a street.
They are reported to be a married couple and a couple in a common-law relationship.
The police plan to determine the direction of handling the suspects after accurately identifying the details of the incident.
