The Gwangju Western Police Station announced on the 15th that they had arrested Ms. A (28, female) on charges of purchasing and using psychotropic drugs (violation of the Narcotics Control Act). Ms. B (22, female), who used the drugs together with her, has also been booked without detention and is under investigation for the same charges.
They are suspected of using methamphetamine at Ms. A’s residence located in Seo-gu, Gwangju, on the afternoon of the 10th.
Ms. A called the 119 emergency medical service after Ms. B experienced respiratory distress while they were sharing and using methamphetamine that Ms. A had purchased herself.
During the hospital transfer, the paramedics found Ms. B’s behavior suspicious and requested police cooperation, leading to an investigation that uncovered the drug use by both Ms. A and Ms. B. Both tested positive in a rapid drug screening test.
According to the police investigation, Ms. A reportedly purchased methamphetamine worth approximately 300,000 won through an online messenger app.
