View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] SP S&A, a construction basic materials specialist company, announced on the 14th that it signed a business agreement on the 13th at the headquarters of Korea South Power in Busan with Korea South Power, SK Telecom, and KC Green Holdings to establish a reusable cup circulation system.
The reusable cup circulation system project is a business where customers pay a deposit when ordering a beverage at a cafe and use a reusable cup, then return the used cup through an unmanned return machine to get their deposit back. The returned cups go through cleaning, sterilization, and disinfection processes by a professional cleaning company before being supplied back to the cafes.
According to this agreement, SP S&A will install unmanned return machines for reusable cups in cafes within its headquarters building and support the project expenses with profits from recycling domestic coal ash. Taking this opportunity, employees of SAMPYO Group affiliates will actively participate in campaigns promoting the culture of using reusable cups.
Using reusable cups instead of disposable cups alone has a carbon emission reduction effect. It is known that the carbon emissions generated during the production and disposal of disposable cups are ten times higher than those of reusable cups.
Lee Byung-hoon, CEO of SP S&A, said, "We initiated this project to participate in spreading a culture of small daily practices for carbon neutrality," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our ESG management system and strive to become a trusted company."
