Kim Ikang, Gwangju Seo-gu Mayor-elect Transition Committee Launches on the 13th
Appointment of Chairman Kim Jae-cheol and Vice Chairman Hwang Bong-ju
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The transition committee for the 8th term mayor of Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, held an inauguration ceremony on the 13th at the transition committee office set up in the Seo-gu Village Community Comprehensive Support Center and began full-scale activities.
Kim Ikang, the mayor-elect of Seo-gu, appointed 15 field experts as transition committee members on the day.
Kim Jaecheol, a visiting researcher at the Gwangju Jeonnam Research Institute, was appointed as the chairman of the transition committee.
Chairman Kim is an expert who has contributed to drawing the blueprint for the development of Gwangju and Jeonnam for over 30 years and served as the head of the Participation Innovation Team of Gwangju Metropolitan City during the 6th term.
Hwang Bongju, former director of the Autonomous Administration Bureau of Gwangju Metropolitan City, was appointed as vice chairman, and Jeong Byeongsu, former Seo-gu council member, was appointed as the head of the advisory group responsible for policy advice to the transition committee.
The transition committee is divided into four subcommittees: ▲ Planning and General Affairs (Head: Chae Jong) ▲ Culture and Economy (Head: Yoon Bongran) ▲ Welfare and Health (Head: Kim Jongwon) ▲ Safety, Environment, and Transportation (Head: Song Changyoung).
The members will review work reports by subcommittee, check the mayor-elect’s pledges and key policies, and seek solutions to major local issues.
Mayor-elect Kim said, “To keep my promise to the residents of Seo-gu who want me to be a mayor close to the field, I formed the transition committee centered on field experts ranging in age from their 30s to 60s. I will draw the blueprint for the 8th term that reflects the aspirations of local residents who want new changes in Seo-gu.”
Chairman Kim Jaecheol said, “I will do my best to actively incorporate the voices from the field and seek practical alternatives so that Mayor-elect Kim Ikang can lead the district administration well with young, dynamic, and competent leadership, as well as leadership based on coexistence and communication.”
