A Missing Worker in His 20s Found Dead After Explosion at Pyeongtaek Waste Disposal Site
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man in his 20s who went missing in an explosion accident at the underground waste treatment plant of Pyeongtaek Eco Center in Gyeonggi was found dead.
According to fire authorities on the 12th, an explosion occurred around 2:10 PM the previous day at the underground 3rd floor waste treatment plant of Pyeongtaek Eco Center, a self-treatment facility for household waste in Godeok New Town, Pyeongtaek. The man in his 20s, identified as A, who was at the scene went missing, and after a search operation by the fire authorities, he was found dead inside a sludge storage tank at 11:10 PM the same day.
The police and fire authorities believe that A fell into the sludge storage tank, which has a capacity of 500 tons, due to the explosion impact. At the time of the accident, there were two other workers besides A at the site, but they were not injured.
