Gochang-gun and Korea Marine Environment Corporation Sign Agreement for 'Gusipo Coastal Ocean New Deal Project'

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun recently announced on the 8th that it signed a consignment agreement with the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation (Chairman Han Kijun) to successfully promote the 2022 Gushipo Port Ocean New Deal Project.

About 10 people attended the agreement ceremony, including Lee Juchul, Deputy Governor of Gochang, and officials from the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation.

The county supports various administrative procedures such as permits necessary for project implementation.

The Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation will be responsible for establishing the basic plan, detailed design, supervising facility construction, and project management based on its extensive experience and professional workforce in the Ocean New Deal project.

The Ocean New Deal project is aimed at realizing region-specific carbon neutrality for coastal areas at the forefront of marine climate change, as marine climate change accelerates.

The Gushipo Coastal Ocean New Deal Project will invest 7 billion KRW over four years until 2025 to preserve the outstanding marine resources of Gushipo National Fishing Port and its hinterland, and establish a resident-centered carbon neutrality foundation such as renewable energy distribution and greenhouse gas emission reduction facilities, thereby building a carbon-clean leading model for coastal ports.

A county official said, “From the basic plan establishment stage to the completion of the final project, we will fully reflect the opinions of local residents and seek distinctive project goals and implementation plans unique to Gochang-gun to revitalize fishing villages and actively strive to successfully lead the Ocean New Deal project.”
