New Financial Supervisory Service Chief Appointed: Former Deputy Prosecutor General Lee Bok-hyun
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Former Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office, Lee Bokhyun, has been appointed as the new Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) Governor.
On the 7th, Ko Seungbeom, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), after a resolution by the FSC, recommended former Deputy Chief Prosecutor Lee as the new FSS Governor.
The FSS Governor is appointed by the President following a resolution by the FSC and a recommendation from the Chairman of the FSC.
Appointee Lee graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Economics and is a financial and economic investigation expert who passed both the Certified Public Accountant exam and the Bar exam simultaneously. He also served as Chief of the Economic Crime Division at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.
The FSC explained, "He was recommended as the new FSS Governor as he is evaluated to be the right person to effectively carry out the immediate tasks of the FSS, such as creating a compliance management environment for financial companies and protecting financial consumers."
