[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] Reports have emerged that COVID-19 quarantine restrictions in Pyongyang have been virtually completely lifted.
According to Russian media on the 3rd, the Russian Embassy in North Korea stated, "Since the 29th of last month, embassy staff have been allowed to go into the city to visit grocery stores located in the diplomatic district," adding, "Public transportation has resumed operation in the city, pedestrians have appeared on the streets, and some shops have reopened."
They also explained, "On the 30th of last month, all restrictions introduced along with the declaration of the Omicron variant inflow on the 12th of the same month were effectively lifted," and "restrictions on markets have also been removed."

However, they hinted, "At least in Pyongyang, it can be confirmed that the authorities are controlling the spread of COVID-19 and the treatment of infected individuals," but "all restrictions remain in place in the provinces."
