This was organized to provide field-oriented practical technical education tailored to the level of future talents who will lead inland water fisheries.
During this training, the following were conducted: ▲Theory and field practice of culturing initial feed organisms (water fleas) ▲Theory and field practice of culturing high value-added aquaculture species, Misguri (mudfish) ▲Theory of ornamental fish aquaculture ▲Tours of aquaculture farms equipped with the latest facilities, processing plant facilities, and ornamental fish hydroponic layout facilities.
Through the theory of ornamental fish aquaculture and tours of hydroponic layout facilities, which are growing as a high value-added new industry in inland waters, various new inland water industries were introduced and taught to future talents who will lead the fisheries industry.
The ornamental fish industry is a new market pioneering field called companion fish (漁) that aligns with the global growth trend of pets.
Along with the item called 'mulmeong' (staring blankly at water), it is gaining popularity recently as the best healing value that allows emotional communication with aqua pets.
'Aqua pet' refers to fish that are kept close and cared for affectionately because they are liked.
The Native Fish Industrialization Center was the first among nationwide metropolitan local governments to publish last year the 'Ornamental Fish Rearing Manual,' which makes it easy to raise and manage 15 species of native fish inhabiting Korea.
Also, it has succeeded in culturing Gaksibung-eo (Carassius cuvieri) and Kalnapjaru (Pseudobagrus koreanus), won the gold prize for two consecutive years at the Koi Carp appraisal contest hosted by the Korea Ornamental Fish Association, and annually releases native fish such as Misguri and crucian carp to secure and restore biological resources of the Nakdong River.
It continuously promotes education for inland water fishermen to foster new inland water industries such as the dissemination of new aquaculture technologies, expansion of sales channels, and development of aquatic food products, as well as nurturing future talents to lead these industries.
