Gwangyang Steelworks Hosts Jungma Village Festival Playground Culture Experience for Local Children
Operation of Play Experience Booths at Jungma Village Festival Held at City Plaza Square on the 28th
Helping Enhance Children's Creativity with Various Easy and Fun Games
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang Steelworks Traditional Play Culture Volunteer Group (Director Choi Wang-guk) operated a play experience booth at City Plaza Square on the 28th, bringing vitality to the Jungma Village Festival.
The Traditional Play Culture Volunteer Group is a talent volunteer group that delivers new enjoyment to local residents' daily lives through panel theater, traditional play, magic, laughter therapy, and other storytelling methods that communicate with the audience.
The members decided to participate in the Jungma Village Festival to provide play culture experience opportunities to children in the area who usually have difficulty participating in various cultural activities, and they took on the task of supporting the children's emotional stability and proper growth.
On the day of the event, various attractions and entertainment wishing for citizens' harmony and well-being were prepared, and the booth prepared by the Traditional Play Culture Volunteer Group was crowded with children who came to experience unique games.
The Traditional Play Culture Volunteer Group taught children easy yet fun games such as moving balls with egg cartons, cup stacking, and Gonu (a traditional Korean board game), communicating together and gifting a happy day.
In particular, these play and cultural experiences are known to help children develop creative thinking and grow into convergent talents, making the event especially meaningful.
A volunteer who participated in the event said, “I am still a beginner member, so sometimes I feel awkward, but seeing the children's bright eyes gives me confidence. Being able to closely interact with the children and spread the happiness virus gives me strength.”
A child who enjoyed various games at the experience booth said, “Since these were games I tried for the first time, I was a bit confused, but the teachers kindly taught me well, so I was able to do them quickly. I want to try again next time.”
Meanwhile, the Gwangyang Steelworks Traditional Play Culture Volunteer Group signed a cultural performance business agreement last September with the Gwangyang Jungma Disabled Welfare Center and the Regional Children's Center Association to provide diverse and meaningful cultural performances regularly for neighbors who find it difficult to enjoy cultural life easily, leading efforts to resolve cultural blind spots in the region.
