Toyota Japan's Sales Decline for 8 Consecutive Months Year-on-Year... Down 9.1% in April
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Major foreign media outlets reported on the 30th, citing Toyota Motor Corporation's announcement, that Toyota's global sales volume in April reached 763,708 units, down 11.1% compared to the same month last year.
Toyota's global sales volume has recorded a year-on-year decline for eight consecutive months.
Overseas sales in April decreased by 10.2% to 660,565 units, while domestic sales fell 16.8% to 103,143 units.
Toyota explained that the recovery trend after COVID-19 has been delayed due to the coronavirus and parts shortages.
Global production volume in April also stood at 692,259 units, down 9.1% compared to the same month last year, falling short of the 750,000 unit production target.
Toyota aimed to produce 250,000 units domestically and 500,000 units overseas, but actual production was 243,425 units and 448,834 units respectively, down 9.0% and 9.1% year-on-year.
