Gwangju April Cumulative Export Increase in 'Home Appliances and Information Communication Devices'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] In April, exports of home appliances and information and communication devices from the Gwangju region increased.
On the 30th, the Gwangju Regional Customs Office announced the export trends of home appliances and information and communication devices from the Gwangju region based on cumulative data for April this year.
According to this data, exports of these products amounted to 546.7 million USD, a 0.1% increase compared to the same period last year. This accounts for 9.5% of total exports from Gwangju and 2.8% of nationwide exports of home appliances and information and communication devices.
By item, the top five export products are refrigerators (67.9%), wireless communication devices (11.1%), air conditioners (8.3%), washing machines (2.5%), and wired communication devices (1.7%).
Among these, wireless communication devices (114.4%), air conditioners (28.2%), and washing machines (61.5%) increased compared to the same period last year, while refrigerators (5.6%) and wired communication devices (79.2%) decreased.
By region, the top five export countries are the United States, China, Canada, Poland, and Mexico. Compared to the same period last year, exports to China (14.4%), Canada (24.3%), Poland (51.1%), and Mexico (14.0%) increased, while exports to the United States (4.3%) decreased.

Looking at the trends of major items over the past five years, there was a decline from 2017 to 2019, but since 2020, there has been an increasing trend, with exports of wireless communication devices significantly increasing in 2020 and driving growth.
