View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Amid difficulties in negotiations over the supplementary budget between the ruling and opposition parties, Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party candidate for Incheon Gyeyang-eul, Song Young-gil, the Seoul mayoral candidate, Kim Dong-yeon, the Gyeonggi Province governor candidate, and Park Nam-chun, the Incheon mayoral candidate, issued a joint statement on the 29th urging, "The National Assembly should pass the supplementary budget today."
The four candidates stated in the joint statement, "We request the swift passage of the supplementary budget to provide urgent support to self-employed small business owners facing hardships."
They said, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration broke its promise to fully support small business owners, which was pledged during the presidential election period, by not including a retroactive budget for small business loss compensation in the supplementary budget," but added, "We ask the Democratic Party leadership to make a magnanimous decision to pass the supplementary budget for urgent livelihood support and overcoming the economic crisis."

They also emphasized, "Small business owners we meet on the ground are pleading that they are at their wit's end," and added, "We cannot only blame the lies of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration. Saving the lives of the people is the fundamental duty of politics." They continued, "As the main opposition party in the National Assembly, the Democratic Party will first pass the supplementary budget to support small business owners and vulnerable groups, and will supplement any shortcomings through legislation and local government budgets," and added, "We will immediately push for amendments to the Small Business Act to apply retroactive compensation for small business losses."
