[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Woo-seok] A former executive of a local government-affiliated institution who informed candidates of interview questions in advance during the recruitment process was sentenced to probation.
The Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 5 (Judge Han Yoon-ok) announced on the 27th that it sentenced Mr. A, a former executive of a local government-affiliated institution in Ulsan who was tried on charges of obstruction of business, to 6 months in prison with 1 year of probation, and imposed a fine of 2 million KRW on former official Mr. B.
Mr. A was indicted on charges of informing Mr. B, who applied for an executive position, of the interview questions in advance in March 2019 while working as an executive of the institution.
On the day of the interview, Mr. A took a photo of the 'interview test question materials' in his office with his mobile phone and sent it to Mr. B. It is known that Mr. B reviewed this and prepared for the interview.

The court stated, "The defendants leaked the interview test question materials and used them to respond to the interview, thereby obstructing the fair duties of the interview screening committee members, which requires severe punishment," but added, "However, considering the applicants' ages and experience at the time, the obstruction of business did not appear to have a significant impact on the actual judgment of the screening committee members," explaining the sentencing rationale.
