Incheon Airport Corporation Partners with Korea Tourism Organization to Accelerate Aviation Demand Recovery
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 26th that it has signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for Attracting Foreign Tourists and Revitalizing Transit Tourism" with the Korea Tourism Organization to rapidly recover aviation and tourism demand in the post-COVID-19 era.
Amid the recovery of international flight demand, supported by the government's recent overhaul of overseas entry management systems and the expansion of international flights, both organizations signed this MOU to create a turning point for revitalizing international tourism, which had been stagnant due to COVID-19.
Based on the agreement, both organizations will strengthen mutual cooperation to attract foreign tourists and activate inbound and transit tourism in preparation for the full-scale resumption of international tourism by ▲joint overseas promotion and marketing ▲development of transit programs ▲sharing aviation and tourism market information.
In particular, they plan to focus all efforts on attracting foreign tourists in the second half of this year. Starting in June, they will hold joint briefings for overseas travel agencies and jointly implement fam tours, overseas exhibitions, and overseas advertisements to accelerate the attraction of inbound tourism demand.
Following the signing ceremony, both organizations held a welcome event at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 to greet the largest corporate meeting group visiting Korea since COVID-19. The corporate meeting group (about 60 people) arriving from the Middle East, including Turkey, Dubai, and Qatar, will visit Korea for a 5-night, 6-day schedule to participate in the 'Seoul International Dental Equipment Exhibition 2022' held at COEX and visit major tourist sites such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Nami Island.
The welcome event, held to promote the Korean tourism boom and stimulate aviation demand recovery, was attended by Kim Beom-ho, Head of Future Business Division at Incheon International Airport Corporation, and Seo Young-chung, Head of International Tourism Division at the Korea Tourism Organization, who presented bouquets and souvenirs to the corporate meeting group representatives and conveyed messages of gratitude for the resumption of Korean tourism.
