View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Junho] The Bukbu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City will conduct inspections and maintenance of 320 visible fire extinguishers installed in four traditional markets within its jurisdiction by the 27th, alongside a fire prevention campaign.
The visible fire extinguishers in traditional markets are installed on walls, pillars, and other locations inside the market so that anyone can quickly use them in the early stages of a fire.
The fire station distributes visible fire extinguishers and carries out regular maintenance in traditional markets, which have a high risk of large fires, to create an environment where the first discoverer can directly perform initial fire extinguishing and thus prevent fires.
The main points of this inspection and maintenance include replacing fire extinguishers whose performance has deteriorated due to expiration or those that are lost or stolen, and additionally installing visible fire extinguishers in locations that require reinforcement.
Furthermore, a fire prevention campaign will be conducted in parallel, including education on the locations of visible fire extinguishers and how to use them in case of emergency, targeting merchants' associations and market store personnel.

Kim Gwanho, Director of the Prevention and Safety Division, said, “One fire extinguisher in the early stages of a fire plays the role of one fire truck,” and added, “We ask for the continuous attention of traditional market stakeholders so that it can be used for initial response in case of emergency.”
