Minister Han made these remarks at the 15th 'World Day of Foreigners' commemorative ceremony held at the Government Gwacheon Complex auditorium, saying, "When we understand and respect neighbors of diverse backgrounds, Korea will become a beautiful and harmonious nation."
The World Day of Foreigners is a legally designated commemorative day established in 2007 to create a society where citizens and foreigners residing in Korea respect each other's cultures and traditions and live together harmoniously.

At the ceremony, presidential citations were awarded to Emma Preisinger, honorary chairperson of the nonprofit organization Lilyhoe, who has worked for 55 years to protect the human rights of Hansen's disease patients since arriving in Korea in 1961, and Jang Young-gi, representative of the nonprofit organization 'People Who Make Dreams Come True,' who has been active in protecting the rights and supporting the settlement of foreigners in Korea through operating shelters for migrant women.
