[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Homeshopping announced on the 19th that it has signed a "Business Agreement for Resource Circulation and ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) Management Practice" with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, and Korea Environment Corporation.
The agreement includes ▲ establishing a community network for resource circulation pilot projects ▲ creating public facilities using waste resources ▲ building a public-private-academic collaborative ESG eco-friendly model. In particular, an eco-friendly small library using upcycled materials is planned to be constructed within the outdoor space of Namsan Library by the end of the year. The Seoul Metropolitan Government will collect, sort, and transport waste textiles such as discarded banners in cooperation with local governments, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will provide the outdoor space of Namsan Library as part of the 100th anniversary project of Namsan Library’s opening, and Korea Environment Corporation will oversee the resource circulation project and conduct public promotion to revitalize the project.
Since 2013, Lotte Homeshopping has been operating eco-friendly learning space small libraries for children in culturally underserved areas in partnership with the Salvation Army Charity Pot. So far, 72 branches have been opened nationwide, and 100 locations are planned to be established by 2025.
