[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 16th, the Democratic Party of Korea held a party caucus and expelled Representative Park Wan-joo, who is accused of sexual misconduct. The expulsion motion was passed without a vote as Park did not participate in the explanation process.
Oh Young-hwan, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, said at the National Assembly regarding the ongoing party caucus, "The motion to expel Representative Park was submitted," adding, "The expulsion motion was approved in accordance with the established laws and the party's constitution and regulations." Oh explained, "Although the emergency committee had passed the expulsion, for a lawmaker affiliated with a political party, a majority vote in the party caucus is required."
Regarding Representative Park, disciplinary procedures at the National Assembly level will also be taken. Oh said, "We are additionally proceeding with the disciplinary process through the Ethics Committee," and added, "Since it is still in preparation, it is difficult to specify a particular timeline."
The disciplinary motion against Representative Park was carried out without a voting procedure. Although there was discussion about the explanation process during the caucus, it was passed on the grounds that Park waived the opportunity to explain and did not attend the caucus.

Oh explained, "There were doubts and disagreements about the procedures due to the inability to disclose prior circumstances, but there was no opposition to the approval." Regarding the National Assembly-level disciplinary action, he said, "It is in preparation," but added, "No specific details have been decided yet."
