Gochang-gun Additional Recruitment for 'Eco-friendly Aquaculture Certification Support Project' for Seafood
[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced on the 16th that it will additionally recruit participants for the ‘2022 Sustainable Seafood Eco-friendly Aquaculture Certification Support Project’ until the 23rd.
The eco-friendly aquaculture certification project is being promoted to protect producers and consumers by managing eco-friendly seafood and organic food products.
The county supports fees required for eco-friendly aquaculture certification (application fee, travel expenses, inspection and management fees).
The support scope includes organic seafood, organic processed food, antibiotic-free seafood, seafood not using activated treatment agents, and handler certification.
Certification bodies are the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service or designated certification agencies, and applicants undergo document review and on-site inspection. After obtaining certification, the project expenses are paid after reviewing the costs incurred for each item.
Eligible applicants are new or renewing eco-friendly aquaculture households such as fishermen, seafood processing companies, producer organizations, food businesses, and fishing villages within Gochang-gun, and only those who actually reside in Gochang-gun can apply.
The county has been investing 12 million KRW, including provincial and county funds, in the ‘Sustainable Seafood Eco-friendly Aquaculture Certification Support Project’ since last year to expand and maintain eco-friendly seafood.
It has also obtained organic seafood certification for laver and organic processed food certification for dried laver.
A county official said, “We will continue to promote the ‘Sustainable Seafood Eco-friendly Aquaculture Certification Support Project’ to enhance the image of the county’s eco-friendly seafood.”
