On the 12th, POSCO's Production Technology Headquarters held a town hall meeting at a cafe located in Guryongpo, Nam-gu, Pohang City, providing an opportunity to communicate with employees. This town hall meeting was organized to allow employees to freely share their opinions about company life.
Employees candidly expressed their questions and opinions about company life, career paths, and organizational culture anonymously on Post-it notes, and Director Lee Si-woo responded openly. In addition, through on-site Q&A sessions, employees' concerns and suggestions were directly heard.
Unlike previous town hall meetings that focused mainly on major management issues, this event drew attention by focusing on 'generational empathy' with the MZ generation. The event included programs such as the MBTI personality test and a quiz on new generation slang called the 'MZ Ability Test' to engage younger employees at their level.
Lee Si-woo, Director of the Production Technology Headquarters, shared his thoughts, saying, "I hope that the younger generation, who will become the main drivers of POSCO in the future, will harmoniously interact and communicate with older generations and colleagues, thereby fostering POSCO's unique cohesion."
Recently, POSCO has been expanding communication programs by department to bridge generational gaps and promote communication. One such program is 'reverse mentoring,' where younger junior employees mentor senior employees. Since April, Pohang Steelworks has been conducting reverse mentoring where managers and executives learn about MZ generation culture directly from staff and assistant managers. Reverse mentoring has been well received as it allows listening to vivid stories from young employees and forming a sense of empathy during the mentoring process.
