Jeonnam Provincial Government Officials Roll Up Sleeves to Promote Fair Trade
Promotion Activities Led by Vice Governor Park Chang-hwan and Residents to Improve Public Awareness and Encourage Ethical Consumption
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Public officials at Jeonnam Provincial Office have rolled up their sleeves to improve residents' awareness of fair trade and promote ethical consumption.
Fair trade is a form of trade that provides favorable trade conditions to producers to support the economic independence of producers in underdeveloped countries.
Jeonnam Province announced on the 12th that it conducted promotional activities to widely publicize fair trade at the Yunsundo Hall in the provincial office.
This promotional activity was prepared to encourage residents to practice together in commemoration of "World Fair Trade Day," designated as the second Saturday of May every year.
The event was attended by Park Changhwan, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs, Lee Geonseop, Head of the Job and Economy Headquarters, Kim Seok, Secretary General of Suncheon YMCA, fair trade officials, and public officials.
They distributed promotional postcards and fair trade products such as candy to provincial office employees and provided detailed information about the values of fair trade.
At a separately prepared promotional booth, a fair trade quiz game was held for visitors to the provincial office, and prizes were given.
Along with an event displaying and selling fair trade products, visitors who brought tumblers to the booth were offered free fair trade coffee.
Deputy Governor Park Changhwan said, "This promotional activity will be an opportunity to increase residents' understanding and empathy for fair trade," adding, "We will promote ethical consumption to realize a socially inclusive economy where everyone prospers together."
Jeonnam Province enacted the "Jeollanam-do Fair Trade Support and Promotion Ordinance" in October 2020 to spread fair trade.
