The province announced on the 12th that it will expand the carbon neutrality program for environmental infrastructure facilities with this purpose.
The program involves installing solar power generation facilities at environmental infrastructure facilities with high energy consumption, such as public sewage treatment plants and livestock manure treatment facilities, enabling the use of renewable energy for electricity consumption. Half of the project cost is supported by national funds.
Since 2012 until last year, the province installed solar power generation facilities at 16 environmental infrastructure sites across 9 cities and counties, replacing existing electricity consumption and reducing 1,408 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
This year, the plan is to additionally install solar power generation facilities at 8 environmental infrastructure sites in 4 cities and counties, increasing the annual carbon dioxide reduction by 891 tons. Through this, the total annual carbon dioxide reduction is expected to reach 2,299 tons.
The environmental infrastructure facilities where additional solar power generation facilities will be installed include: ▲ Dangjin Dangjin Sewage Treatment Plant, Nanjiseom Sewage Treatment Plant, Junghung Sewage Treatment Plant, Livestock Manure Regional Unit Integration Center ▲ Cheonan Yonggok Water Purification Plant, 4th Industrial Complex Wastewater Treatment Plant ▲ Buyeo Public Recycling Infrastructure ▲ Yesan Livestock Manure Public Treatment Facility.
