Gyeongnam Provincial Election Commission to Accept Local Election and By-election Candidates from the 12th

After completing registration, candidates can campaign as candidates starting from the 19th of this month, while until then, only preliminary candidates can campaign.
To register as a candidate, one must be a citizen aged 18 or older on the election day, without any disqualifications for eligibility as stipulated by the Public Official Election Act. Candidates running for local elections must have been continuously registered residents within the jurisdiction of the relevant local government for at least 60 days as of the election day, including those who moved in before April 3rd.
After paying the deposit, candidates must submit documents related to property, military service, criminal record, academic background, tax payment and arrears, a certificate of candidate registration history for public office elections, and except for candidates running in the National Assembly by-election, a resident registration abstract.
Candidates running for proportional representation local council seats must submit a consent letter from the candidate, and candidates for the superintendent of education election must submit documents proving their educational career, etc.
Party candidate recommendation letters must also be submitted, but candidates for superintendent of education and independent candidates can submit recommendation letters from eligible voters instead.

Persons who are party members cannot register as independent candidates, and candidates cannot register if they leave or change party affiliation during the candidate registration period or hold membership in two or more parties.
