[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do, has established the "Mokpo City Serious Accident Prevention Comprehensive Plan" to systematically carry out safety and health management tasks as stipulated by the Serious Accident Punishment Act.
The comprehensive plan is designed with the goal of "creating a safe and pleasant working environment without serious accidents," prioritizing life and safety as the highest values, and strengthening responsibility for safety management as well as compliance with safety rules and procedures.
Additionally, it includes three major promotion strategies: establishing a safety and health management system, integrated management for serious accident response, and systematizing monitoring systems. Key tasks include forming a dedicated organization, establishing and implementing safety and health management systems, measures for preventing recurrence of accidents and their implementation, and necessary actions to comply with legal obligations.
To this end, the city plans to form a dedicated task force team led by the vice mayor as the person responsible for safety and health management. In line with the three major promotion strategies, the city will prioritize organizing and establishing a safety and health management system, including safety plan development and implementation inspection, holding industrial safety and health committee meetings, and preparing manuals for accident response.
Furthermore, the city intends to carry out year-round preventive management tasks such as monitoring the current status of safety management and compliance with obligations, conducting safety and health education and evaluations of compliance with safety and health regulations, investigating musculoskeletal hazard factors, surveying the amount of chemical substances used, and reviewing the adequacy of recurrence prevention measures in case of accidents.
