The party is putting all its efforts into the elections by placing incumbent lawmakers in key battlegrounds such as Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, with Lee Jae-myung, the party’s last presidential candidate, serving as the overall election committee chairman.
On the same day, the Democratic Party held the inauguration ceremony of the election committee at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, announcing key positions and presenting appointment letters to candidates. The ceremony was attended by 60 to 70 election committee members, including party leadership, all wearing blue election committee jumpers, and was held amid enthusiastic cheers. Notably, Lee Jae-myung, who declared his candidacy for the by-election in Incheon Gyeyang-eul, concurrently serves as the overall election committee chairman, effectively leading this election campaign.
When Chairman Lee appealed for support, saying, "In the last presidential election, we chose a judge, but I believe this time we need capable workers to restore balance and stabilize governance," the election committee members responded by shouting "Lee Jae-myung." Chairwoman Park Ji-hyun also emphasized Lee’s role during the emergency committee meeting that day, stating, "The Democratic Party must unite under Chairman Lee Jae-myung and win the election." On this day, along with Chairman Lee, Yoon Ho-jung and Park Ji-hyun, co-chairs of the emergency committee, were appointed as standing election committee chairs, while Floor Leader Park Hong-geun and candidates for governor in 17 cities and provinces were appointed as co-chairs. Kim Min-ki, the secretary-general, and lawmaker Kim Min-seok were appointed as general headquarters chiefs.
The Democratic Party, which had already established camps in key battlegrounds in the metropolitan area, deployed incumbent lawmakers mainly in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. In the camp of Seoul mayoral candidate Song Young-gil, four-term lawmaker Ahn Kyu-baek and Chairwoman Park Ji-hyun were appointed as standing co-chairs, while lawmakers Kim Young-joo, Kim Jin-ae, Noh Woong-rae, and Park Yong-jin served as co-chairs. Additionally, about 60 current and former lawmakers, including former Democratic presidential candidate Lee Nak-yeon and former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae, were positioned in key roles within the camp’s advisory group.
