According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 11th, as of midnight on that day, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases increased by 43,925 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 17,658,794.
Despite being a weekday in the middle of the week, the number of new confirmed cases decreased by 6,008 from the previous day (49,933), continuing the downward trend. Compared to the same day last week, the 4th (49,055), it was 5,130 fewer, and compared to two weeks ago on April 27 (76,769), it was 32,844 fewer.
The daily number of confirmed cases has been below 50,000 for eight consecutive days recently. However, after the Children's Day holiday, new confirmed cases on the 8th and 9th increased compared to the same days of the previous week, leading to analyses suggesting that the decline in the COVID-19 outbreak may be slowing down.
The number of critically ill patients recorded on that day was 383, which is 16 fewer than the previous day, marking two consecutive days in the 300s.
The nationwide severe bed occupancy rate was 18.8% as of midnight on that day (471 out of 2,501 beds in use), a 0.4 percentage point decrease from the previous day (19.2%). The occupancy rate of semi-severe beds, which treat patients whose condition is either improving from severe or at high risk of worsening to severe, was 22.6%.
The number of patients undergoing home treatment without hospitalization was 232,866, among whom 17,018 are in the intensive management group receiving health monitoring from medical institutions.
The number of COVID-19 confirmed deaths reported the previous day was 29, which is 33 fewer than the day before (62). The number of deaths falling to the 20s is the first time in 86 days since February 14 (21 deaths).
