Candidate Kim Dong-yeon's Camp: "President Yoon Must Communicate with the People and Keep Promises"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] On the 20th, the campaign of Kim Dong-yeon, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor, urged newly inaugurated President Yoon Suk-yeol to keep his promises to the people, demonstrate leadership for unity, and become a president who communicates effectively.
Kim's campaign issued a statement on the day, saying, "We congratulate the launch of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration together with the people" and proposed several suggestions for successful governance.
The campaign first pointed out, "We ask the president to strive to keep the promises made to the people," noting that "some pledges boldly made by President Yoon during the presidential election have been discarded or modified in the national agenda. Representative examples include the establishment of new GTX E and F lines, exemption from detailed safety inspections for apartments over 30 years old, and realization of a 2 million KRW monthly salary for soldiers."
They also emphasized, "Show leadership for unity," stating, "Since President Yoon was elected by a narrow margin of just 0.73 percentage points (over candidate Lee Jae-myung), he must view society with a broad perspective and be able to harmonize values that were previously difficult to understand."
Furthermore, they urged, "Become a president who communicates," arguing, "Politics that revives people's livelihoods and serves national interests through communication and cooperation, not obstinacy and non-communication, is necessary. In a poll conducted just before the inauguration, the positive job performance rating was 41%, marking the lowest public expectation for President Yoon in history."
