[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Former Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Byung-kwan announced his candidacy for the by-election in Bundang-gap, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province on the 9th, stating that he has been entrusted with the solemn duty to "fight and defeat the 'fake new politics' symbolized by Ahn Cheol-soo."
On the morning of the same day, Kim held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office and described candidate Ahn Cheol-soo as a "fly-by-night political speculator," aiming to check the opposing candidate Ahn.
Targeting Ahn, Kim said, "He is the only politician who treats political parties and constituencies as objects of speculation," adding, "To put it bluntly, there is no other way to describe it than 'fly-by-night politics.'"
He stated, "I will not allow Bundang-Pangyo to become part of the 'Ahn Cheol-soo Collection.' I will send Ahn's politics to the museum as a record of wrong answers," emphasizing, "I solemnly declare that this Bundang-gap by-election will be Ahn Cheol-soo's last election."
