[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 6th, the Democratic Party of Korea submitted the list of members for the Special Committee on Judicial Reform (Sagai Teukwi) to the National Assembly. This came three days after the plenary session on the 3rd passed the resolution to form the Sagai Teukwi along with the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act.
On the same day, the Democratic Party held a meeting at the National Assembly and announced that they submitted the list of six members to the Assembly Secretariat, including four-term lawmaker Jeong Seongho as the chairperson, two-term lawmakers Song Kiheon and Kim Jongmin, and first-term lawmakers Kim Seungwon, Im Hoseon, Kim Yongmin, and Cheon Junho as members. The Democratic Party plans to accelerate the formation of the Sagai Teukwi to complete the establishment of the Korean-style FBI, the Serious Crime Investigation Agency (Jungsucheong), within one and a half years and to finalize prosecution reform.

The Sagai Teukwi will consist of a total of 13 members: 7 from the Democratic Party, 5 from the People Power Party, and 1 from a minor party. However, since the People Power Party has stated they will not cooperate, difficulties are expected until the Sagai Teukwi is actually formed and operated. In response, a Democratic Party floor official said, "According to the National Assembly Act, if the list is not submitted, Speaker Park Byeongseok can appoint members, so the People Power Party will eventually have no choice but to submit the list."
