US-ROK Senior Nuclear Envoys Talk... "North Clearly Violates UN Security Council Resolutions"
No Kyu-duk, Director General for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, and Sung Kim, U.S. Special Representative for North Korea, are attending the South Korea-U.S. senior-level talks on North Korea's nuclear issue held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 18th of last month.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] On the 4th, Noh Kyu-duk, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Office for Peace and Negotiations on the Korean Peninsula and South Korea's chief nuclear envoy, and Sung Kim, U.S. Special Representative for North Korea, held a telephone consultation regarding North Korea's ballistic missile launch.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides pointed out and condemned that North Korea's ballistic missile launch clearly violates multiple United Nations (UN) Security Council resolutions and constitutes a serious threat not only to the Korean Peninsula but also to the international community.
They also agreed to take all necessary measures in close cooperation with the international community. They urged North Korea to cease further provocative acts and return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy.
Director Noh and Representative Sung Kim also shared assessments regarding the possibility of additional provocations by North Korea. Both sides agreed to maintain a strong South Korea-U.S. combined defense posture and to continuously strengthen seamless cooperation for a united international response, including measures at the UN Security Council level.

Earlier, North Korea launched one ballistic missile, presumed to be an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), into the East Sea at around 12:03 p.m. on the same day.
