Gyeonggi-do to Provide 'Customized Consulting' for Chemical Substance Sites Starting This Year
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct customized consulting for chemical substance handling workplaces nationwide for the first time among metropolitan local governments starting this year to prevent environmental pollution and chemical accidents.
This project focuses on providing practical assistance to workplaces through Gyeonggi Province's specialized field-centered consulting, moving away from the conventional one-way, lecture-style chemical safety education.
The province will invest 100 million KRW this year to conduct field-centered customized consulting for 80 sites, including workplaces handling hazardous chemicals and those with numerous odor complaints, guiding them on chemical substance reduction plans, management methods, and facility improvements.
Additionally, a survey will be conducted simultaneously to identify problems faced by workplaces in chemical substance management and to prepare support measures for small-scale businesses.
Workplaces wishing to receive consulting can contact the executing organization, the Ansan Environmental Foundation.
A provincial official stated, "Gyeonggi Province recognizes the increasing risks of chemical substances and maintains continuous interest. We expect this project to help prevent chemical accidents, reduce pollutants, ensure worker safety, and alleviate residents' concerns."
