"Lotte Chilsung Reports Strong Performance in Beverages and Alcohol: Q1 Operating Profit 59.7 Billion KRW, Up 85% YoY"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] Lotte Chilsung Beverage announced on the 2nd through a public disclosure that its consolidated operating profit for the first quarter of this year was tentatively estimated at 59.7 billion KRW, an 84.9% increase compared to the same period last year. Sales reached 626.3 billion KRW, up 16.2% year-on-year, and net profit increased by 127.3% to 37.2 billion KRW.
Sales in the beverage segment rose 12.2% year-on-year to 389.9 billion KRW, with operating profit increasing 47.2% to 32.8 billion KRW. Specifically, sales of bottled water, carbonated drinks, and energy drinks recorded double-digit growth rates. In particular, the carbonated category led beverage performance with an 18.1% increase in sales compared to the previous year, driven by the popularity of zero-calorie carbonated drinks.
Sales in the alcoholic beverage segment increased 21.1% to 194.2 billion KRW, and operating profit surged 133.5% to 21.6 billion KRW. By product type, soju sales rose 19.9%, partly influenced by the price increase implemented on March 5. Beer sales also grew by 14.8%. Wine sales led the alcoholic beverage business performance with a 27.8% increase.

By sales channel, sales through online channels, including the direct online mall 'Chilsung Mall' and open markets, increased 45.9% year-on-year. With the expansion of reopening and the end of remote work, sales in restaurants, schools, workplaces, and other special channels also grew by 26.7%.
