View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Jeong Mi-kyung, Supreme Council Member of the People Power Party, rebutted criticism from the Democratic Party that Lee Jun-seok, the party leader, is being swayed by comments from Han Dong-hoon, the nominee for Minister of Justice, saying, "This is a statement made without knowing Lee Jun-seok. It is just another frame being imposed."
Earlier on the 22nd, the ruling and opposition floor leaders agreed on a mediation plan proposed by National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok regarding the 'complete removal of prosecution's investigative authority' (Geomsu Wanbak). However, Lee Jun-seok announced at the Supreme Council meeting that he would reconsider the mediation plan, and it became known that he had listened to the opinions of nominee Han during this process. In response, Yoon Ho-jung, the Democratic Party's Emergency Committee Chairman, criticized on the 25th during the emergency committee meeting, "The People Power Party leader is wavering because of a single phone call from Han Dong-hoon, the nominee for Minister of Justice. It is truly pitiful how many sins he must have committed to be like this."
In response to such criticism, Supreme Council Member Jeong jumped up, saying, "Lee Jun-seok is not someone who acts based on someone else's words." In an interview on the 27th with TBS Traffic Radio's 'Shin Jang-sik's Shin Jang Open,' she denied, "Lee Jun-seok moves after hearing nominee Han's words? That is a statement made without knowing Lee Jun-seok well."
Jeong further stated, "If nominee Han spoke only from his personal thoughts and those thoughts were not agreed upon by party members and the general public, would Lee Jun-seok have listened to him? Since Lee is not a legal professional, he listened to nominee Han, who is from the prosecution, to understand his thoughts. It was merely a form of consultation with an expert," adding, "Does nominee Han influence the party? This is a ridiculous frame that the Democratic Party is trying to impose to divide us, saying 'People Power Party listens to Han Dong-hoon’s words.'"
On the same day, Supreme Council Member Jeong expressed hope that Ahn Cheol-soo, the transition committee chairman, would run in the by-election for Seongnam Bundang-gap in Gyeonggi Province. When the host asked, "There are talks that Supreme Council Member Jeong is considering running in Bundang-gap," Jeong replied, "No. I hope Chairman Ahn runs," and added, "The party is currently reviewing whether Ahn Cheol-soo should do this in some way." When the host pressed again, asking, "Is it true that party opinion is converging on Chairman Ahn running in Bundang?" Jeong was reserved, saying, "Not the whole party, but some people are giving various opinions as ideas."

Meanwhile, Lee Jun-seok also rebutted that listening to nominee Han’s opinions was in the capacity of legal counsel. On the 25th, he wrote on Facebook, "Nominee Han is a person with a very clear stance on this matter and, as an investigative expert, clearly explained the potential harm to the public if Geomsu Wanbak is implemented. If you don’t know well, you should seek advice from legal professionals when doing politics," and countered, "If the Democratic Party is curious about Geomsu Wanbak, they should seek advice from former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae."
