Seoul World Cup Stadium Transforms into Purple After Sunset... Nighttime Lighting from the 22nd
Nightscape Lighting in the Color of the Year 'Very Peri'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Facilities Corporation announced on the 21st that it will create a distinctive purple nightscape by utilizing the lighting on the walls and roof of the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu.
Starting from the 22nd, the lights will turn on daily at sunset (7:10 PM, the time when streetlights turn on) and remain illuminated until 9 PM for one month. As the brightness of spring flowers fades into darkness, the Seoul World Cup Stadium, a representative landmark in the northwestern region of Seoul, will be filled with purple lighting.
The color introduced by the corporation for this lighting is "Very Peri," a shade of purple selected as Pantone's Color of the Year 2022 by the American color research institute. Very Peri is gaining attention as a color that breathes vibrant energy into the subdued atmosphere caused by COVID-19 and is being widely used in everything from clothing to fashion accessories.
This lighting display will be created using 435 lights on the 5th and top floor of the Seoul World Cup Stadium and 100 lights on the roof membrane, making it a nightscape attraction that fits well with the season ideal for outings.
