Elon Musk "Enough Wealth to Acquire Twitter... 'Plan B' if Board Rejects"
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] "I have sufficient assets, and if possible, I can (acquire it)." Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, reaffirmed his intention to acquire Twitter on the 14th (local time) and stated that if the board rejects it, he has a Plan B.
According to The New York Times (NYT), CEO Musk attended the global lecture platform TED event held in Vancouver, Canada, on the same day and said, although he was "not sure" if the Twitter acquisition was possible, he made the statement.
Right after stepping onto the stage, when asked about the Twitter acquisition proposal, Musk smiled and said, "I think a comprehensive platform for freedom of expression is very important," emphasizing, "Both the reality and perception that people can speak freely within the bounds of the law are important."
He mentioned, "Having a highly trusted, broad, and comprehensive public platform is also very important for the future of (human) civilization." He also argued that Twitter should switch to an open-source algorithm.
CEO Musk said, "I'm not sure if I can actually get it (Twitter acquisition)." However, when asked if he has the funds for the acquisition, he expressed his intention by saying, "I have sufficient assets," and "If possible, I can do it."
On that day, CEO Musk refrained from giving detailed comments on what he would do if the Twitter board rejects his acquisition proposal. However, when asked if he has a Plan B, he answered, "Yes." He also added, "I hate losing."
