Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongbuk Province, Recruiting Participants for Public Data Utilization Contest
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Yeongcheon City in Gyeongbuk Province is hosting the 1st Public Data Utilization Competition.
To discover innovative ideas and new business models using public data, applications will be accepted online from the 18th of this month until the end of next month.
The competition has two categories: idea planning and product and service development. Individuals or teams of up to four people interested in public data can participate.
Evaluation will be based on document screening and presentation assessment, selecting a total of seven teams for grand prize, excellence, and encouragement awards in each category.
Winners will receive certificates including the Yeongcheon Mayor's Award and a total prize money of 10 million KRW.
Additionally, grand prize winners in each category will be granted eligibility to participate in the 10th Pan-Government Public Data Utilization Startup Competition hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

Kwon Hyuk-gu, Director of Policy Planning Office, said, “Public data is a resource available to everyone, and we hope for much interest and participation in the competition,” adding, “We expect this event to help activate a data-driven administrative culture in our region.”
