Incheon City Hires 14 Citizens to Investigate Local Tax Delinquents
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 31st that it will conduct a local tax delinquent investigation with citizens for eight months starting next month.
The investigation will be divided into three areas: home visits and consultations for local tax delinquents, forced auction of delinquent vehicles, and data construction for high-amount delinquents. To this end, the city recently hired 14 delinquency investigators from among Incheon citizens.
Home visits and consultations for delinquents will be customized according to the duration and type of delinquency. For small-amount delinquents with a short delinquency period, investigators will visit their addresses directly to provide payment guidance and consultations to carry out collection activities.
Based on the data collected during consultations, livelihood-type delinquents will be linked with welfare departments to support economic recovery, and taxpayers who find it difficult to pay in a lump sum will be guided to pay in installments.
Abandoned vehicles and illegally parked vehicles will be towed on site and auctioned. In addition, for malicious high-amount and habitual delinquents, basic data will be constructed and collection activities will be carried out using specialized personnel and the Omega tracking collection team.
Earlier, from October last year for two months, Incheon City hired 18 delinquency investigators who visited 5,135 households of delinquents and towed and auctioned 291 delinquent vehicles, collecting 500 million won in delinquent taxes.
