Ministry of Justice to Implement 'One-Stop Support Service' for Crime Victims Starting Tomorrow
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The Ministry of Justice is launching a 'One-Stop Service for Crime Victims' that allows multiple types of support to be applied for at once.
The Ministry of Justice announced on the 31st that starting from the 1st of next month, crime victims will be able to apply for economic support such as crime victim relief funds, medical expenses, and living expenses, as well as legal support including appointment of public defenders and statement assistants, and psychological support all in one integrated one-stop service.
Thanks to this service, crime victims are expected to resolve all major support needs with a single application. The Ministry of Justice also placed a 'Crime Victim Support Checklist' at 59 Crime Victim Support Centers nationwide to help victims easily understand the main support programs. Additionally, the checklist includes a QR code that links to a website providing detailed information on victim support programs, improving accessibility to these services.
The current system required crime victims to apply individually to multiple agencies, causing inconvenience. In October last year, the Ministry of Justice's Digital Sexual Crime Expert Committee recognized this issue and recommended the need for one-stop support not only for sexual violence victims but for all crime victims. Following this recommendation, the Ministry of Justice is implementing the one-stop support service.
